Brenda Kaye McKinney, age 77, of Silver Chase Court, Winston-Salem, N.C. passed away at her residence on October 22, 2025.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on November 22, 2025 at Flint Hill Baptist Church, 269 Flint Hill Rd., Fort Mill, S.C. with Rev. Evans Jackson Newell and Rev. Wayne Deffinger officiating. Inurnment following the service will be at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, 211 Marvin Rd., Indian Land, S.C.

A visitation prior to the memorial service will be held from 1:15 - 2:00 p.m.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a Brother, William Morgan McKinney, Jr. and his wife Margaret; and 3 sisters, Pasty Ghant, Shirley McKinney Newell and her husband Jackson and Patricia McKinney.

Brenda was born in Rock Hill, S.C. on January 28, 1948 to William Morgan McKinney, Sr. and Ella Blanche Lemmond McKinney. Prior to retirement, Brenda was employed by Kelly Government Solutions, in Silver Springs, Maryland, as the District Manager. She also volunteered with Women In Defense as their Horizon’s Scholarship Director. Prior to living in Maryland, Brenda enjoyed many happy years in Houston, Texas where her favorite pastime was dancing.

In retirement she chose to live in Winston Salem, NC, where she volunteered with Dress for Success. During her illness Brenda grew in her faith through the ministry of Peace Presbyterian Church, Cary and the Brenda Hutchins/Malinda Riddle Bible Fellowship class of Calvary Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, NC.

She is survived by 2 brothers, James W. McKinney and his wife Brenda Lee of Aiken, S.C. and Roddy Lee McKinney and his wife Janice of Birmingham, A.L.; 3 sisters, Marjorie M Cashion and husband Roy of Naples, F.L., Joyce M. Smith and her husband Eric of Ft. Mill, S.C. and Judy M. Thomas and her husband Rick of Sanford, N.C.; thirteen nieces and nephews, and a growing number of great-nieces and nephews.

Her infectious laughter, and caring spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
