Bobby Lee Talbert

Mr. Bobby Lee Talbert, 84, of Denton, NC passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at Chapel Hill Global Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the service at the church.

Bobby was born on August 8, 1940, in Davidson County, the son of Hollis Talbert and Mary Lanier Talbert. He graduated from Denton High School in 1959 and went on to serve with United States Army Reserves. As a member of Chapel Hill Global Methodist Church, Bobby had been very active especially in his younger years. Bobby was very active in his community, having been a member of the Denton Lions Club for 50 years where he always enjoyed assisting with the Miss Denton Pageant. Also, he served on the board of directors with Mountain Vista Health Park, South Davidson Fire Department, and South Davidson Family Resource Center. Bobby’s association with Kountry Korner Hardware spanned over 40 years, where he began as an employee and eventually became the owner and operator. He was preceded in death by his parents.

On October 31, 2008, Bobby retired from announcing the football games at South Davidson High School, he received a plaque in recognition of being the “Voice of the Wildcats” for 30 years. In 2018 he was inducted into the South Davidson Sports Hall of Fame.

He will be remembered as a kind man that loved to help others and a dedicated worker. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and woodworking.

Left to cherish his memory is the love of his life, his wife of 19 years, Beverly Penry Talbert of the home; daughters, Melanie Talbert Rowe and husband Jerome of Denton and Tammy Talbert Davis and husband Eddie of Seagrove; stepson, Jason Schneider of Apex; 3 grandchildren, Harley Davis and wife Nikki, Cody Davis, and Michael Younts and wife Ally; 8 great-grandchildren; and Rusty his grand dog, that brought him much joy.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Chapel Hill Global Methodist Church 1457 S. Chapel Hill Church Rd., Denton, NC 27239 or to Hospice of Davidson County 200 Hospice Way Lexington, NC 27292.
