Mrs. Bobbie Ann Sexton Ridge, age 89, of Sexton Road in Denton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 4, at Hospice of the Piedmont.
A celebration of Bobbie Ann’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, at Central United Methodist Church, with Reverend Peter McGuire officiating.
Born on May 12, 1936, in Davidson County, Bobbie Ann was the daughter of Henry Harold “Pete” Sexton and Sally Sue Snider Sexton. She was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church, a place that remained close to her heart.
Bobbie Ann lived with confidence and conviction; her spunky spirit and unmistakable presence made her truly remarkable. Alongside her beloved husband, James Lawrence Ridge, she co-owned and operated Ridge’s Specialty Cars and Trucks. Lawrence’s natural talent for buying, selling, and trading rare and unique vehicles paired seamlessly with Bobbie Ann’s sharp business mind, grit, and tenacity. Together, they were truly a winning team. From their hometown shop in Denton, they successfully acquired and marketed vehicles worldwide, earning recognition in several national publications and building a legacy they were deeply proud of.
Affectionately known as “Bobba” by her family, Bobbie Ann was known for her quick wit, candid commentary, and the signature sparkle in her eye, complemented by her impeccable sense of style and a smile brightened with her trademark lipstick. She lived her life with exceptional strength and resilience, while loving her family and friends with a passion as bold as her spirit.
In addition to her parents, Bobbie Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James Lawrence Ridge; her brother, Billy Harold Sexton; and her sister, Becky Sexton Rast.
She is survived by her daughter, Ginger Ridge Somers of High Point; her grandson, Jackson Ridge Somers and wife Elizabeth of Charlotte; her granddaughter, Anna Grace Somers of Charlotte; her cherished great-granddaughter, Blair Elizabeth Somers; her brother, Buddy Bright Sexton and wife Nancy of Denton and Blowing Rock; her niece, Denise Bean Sexton; and a loving extended family.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Cheryl and Derreck Britt, Craig Gallimore, and Margaret Floyd Harris for the exceptional care, kindness, and support they so generously provided to Bobbie Ann.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Central United Methodist Church Hut.
Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 126, Denton, NC 27239.
