Billy Cranford

Mr. Billy Joe Cranford, age 82 of Fitch Ave., Denton , NC died Monday, February 19 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 22 at Denton Town Cemetery conducted by Rev. Jamie Draughn. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Briggs Funeral Home. Mr. Cranford was born May 8, 1935 in Randolph County to Ratio Cranford and Eva Hopkins Cranford. He was married to Peggy Yates Cranford, the love of his life who died January 13, 2006. He was also preceded in death by his parents and by brothers Clyde Cranford, Wade Cranford, Herman Cranford and Dale Cranford. He and Peggy enjoyed many trips to the beach and mountains. He enjoyed gardening and sharing vegetables with family, neighbors and friends. He was a big fan of NASCAR, a loyal Tar Hill fan who never missed a game. He loved western movies and books. He loved the town of Denton where he had many good neighbors and friends that he would stop by to talk with and share a cake he had made.   He worked many years in the furniture industry retiring from Heritage Furniture of High Point. He is survived by his brother, Roy Cranford and wife Judy of Denton; sisters Linda Craven and husband Darrell of Seagrove and Helen Andrews of Asheboro and many nieces and nephews.
