Billy Blackburn

August 9, 1926 — April 26, 2019

Mr. Billy Alexander Blackburn, 92, of Mullinix Rd. Troy, NC passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Tuesday, April 30 at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown with Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Gospel Light Baptist Church from 1:00 to 2:45 pm Tuesday prior to the service and other times at the home of son, Larry Blackburn on Mullinix Rd., Troy.

Billy was born August 9, 1926 in Wilkes County, NC to William Blackburn and Maggie Alexander Blackburn. He was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown and he retired from AT&T. in addition to his parents Billy was also preceded in death by brothers, Clay, Christy, Gilbert; and sisters, Cloice and Ruby.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Warden Blackburn of the home; sons, Larry Blackburn and wife Helen of Troy, Danny Blackburn and wife Alice of Selma, and Gary Blackburn of Red Oak; brothers, Chad and Justin Blackburn; sister, Mary Nell; 6 grandchildren, Josh, Greg, Rachel, Daniel, Clark, and Laura; 8 great-grandchildren, Karli, Cameron, Leann, Kendall, William, Jacob, Eli, and Jonah.

Memorials can be made to Hospice of Randolph County 446 Vision Dr., Asheboro, NC 27203 or Gospel Light Baptist Church 890 Walkertown Guthrie Rd. Winston Salem, NC 27101.
