Willie Ross “Bill” Daniel, age 84, of Mountain Vista Health Park, formerly of Daniel Rd., Denton died Monday February 11 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 14 at Summerville Baptist Church with Rev. Tom McLean, Rev. Mike Motley and Rev. Flynn Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites. Mr. Daniel was born August 11, 1923 in Davidson County to William Clayton Daniel, Sr. and Nina Alberta Snider Daniel. He had worked at Thornton Hosiery Mill, was owner of Bill’s Mobile Home Park and was a member of Summerville Baptist Church. He was a US Army veteran of World War II serving under General Patton. Mr. Daniel was a talented artist and, in earlier years, had played steel guitar with the Denton Playboys Band. Mr. Daniel was preceded in death by brothers, Manley C. Daniel, Woodrow Daniel, Edd Daniel and W. C. Daniel and sister, Lala Williams. Mr. Daniel is survived by his wife Betty Bingham Daniel of Daniel Rd., son James Albert (Jimmy) Daniel of Denton, brother, Bert Daniel of Denton, sisters, Nona Carrick, Dallas Snider and Nina Daniel Yates, all of Denton, one grandchild, Kristin Leigh Daniel of Denton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Wednesday at Briggs Funeral Home and other times at the home of the brother at 628 Hwy. 47 East, Denton. Memorials may be made to Summerville Baptist Church, 3134 Summerville Church Rd., Denton, NC 27239.
