Beverly Surratt Poist

Beverly Surratt Poist, 85, of Surratt Rd., Denton, NC passed away on Thursday, March 02, 2023, at Randolph Hospital.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, March 5 at Pleasant Grove Church with Rev. Brett Chappell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Beverly was born January 5, 1938, in Davidson County the daughter of Grady Surratt and Virgie Frank Surratt. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Church and a graduate of Ashmore Business School. Beverly had been an administrative assistant with Aberdeen Proving Ground, Thorntons Hosiery Mill, and Sunbelt. Following her retirement, she went to work for Dr.’s Mangundayao where she enjoyed seeing and talking with people. As an avid sports fan Beverly never missed a game of her beloved UNC Tarheels and Carolina Panthers. She especially enjoyed going to lunch with a group of her former classmates, but what she truly loved was her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Poist, Sr.

She is survived by her son, Charles Edward Poist, Jr., and wife Christie of Denton; daughters, Angie P. Loftin and husband Greg and Beth P. Russell all of Denton; brother, Billy Surratt of Denton; sister, Carolyn Surratt Garner of Denton; 3 grandchildren, Jonathan Loftin of Orlando, FL, Blair Russell, and Sara Beth Loftin both of Denton; and her canine companion, Charlie.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the service at Pleasant Grove Church. And other times at the home of Angie Loftin on Broad St. in Denton.
