Wanda Paulette (Betty) Letterman, 83, of Denton, NC went home to be with the Lord at her home on Saturday, December 26, 2020.
Betty was born on June 23, 1937 to Paul and Zelda McKinney.
Betty attended Clearmont High School in Burnsville, North Carolina. She was a loving, dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Betty was an avid gardener who especially enjoyed working in her flowers and fruit and vegetable gardens. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved to sew and to quilt. Betty also loved to cook and made many meals for visiting evangelists, preachers, and missionaries. A gracious and welcoming lady, she gladly shared what her family had with those in need in the surrounding neighborhood.
Betty was also a great woman of faith who loved the Word of God. She believed on the Lord at a young age and served the Lord for most of her life. She was a faithful, long-time member of Highland Baptist Church where she was the pastor’s wife, a Sunday school teacher, a leader of the Women’s Missionary Society, and an inspiration and example to many both in the church and in the community. For many years, she wrote letters and sent cards of encouragement to hundreds of friends and relatives. She was well known for her testimony for Christ. A favorite passage she quoted often is Psalm 23.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Bill McKinney.
