Betty Jo Yates

Mrs. Betty Jo Lanier Yates, age 84 of Canaan Church Road, Denton, NC died Saturday, July 3 at Hospice House of Randolph County.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Siloam Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Scott Davis.

Betty was born July 25, 1936 in Randolph County to Frank Lanier and Elma Russell Lanier. She retired from Farmer Elementary School and later worked part-time at Ricks Restaurant. In addition to her parents Betty was also preceded in death by husband, Paul Edward Yates; sisters, Ann See, Elwina Shaw, Lola Mae Scarboro, and Margurite Nance; brothers, David and Paul Lanier.

She is survived by her son, Paul Michael Yates and wife Joan of Denton; 3 grandchildren, Curtis Yates, Laura Yates, and Stephanie Phee; 2 great-grandchildren, Tea and Chayton Yates.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
