Betty Tucker Bennett, 76, wife of the late Robert Marshall Bennett passed away at home Wednesday, April 4, 2012 after a brief illness. Her beloved family was at her side. Born in Thomaston, GA, Betty had lived in Virginia most of her life and Carrollton since the early 1970’s. She was a keypunch operator, civil service, at Port Monroe for a number of years. In her pastime, she enjoyed homemaking, gardening and canning. Betty was a member of the Smithfield Assembly of God Church where she taught Tuesday morning Bible study and was known as the “Fearless Leader”. Betty is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Bennett, son, David Bennett and wife, Debbie; all of Carrollton; a sister, Carolyn Davis of Williamsburg; Grandchildren, Jamie, Jr. and Robert Bohlander and Ashley and Amber Bennett. A service celebrating Betty’s life will be held Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 1:00 o’clock pm in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donald Watkins officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Betty’s body will be taken to Briggs-Candor Funeral Home, Candor, NC for a funeral service to be held 1:00 PM, Monday, April 9, in Marcus United Methodist Church, Jackson Springs, NC followed by interment in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home of Smithfield, VA and Briggs-Candor Funeral Home in Candor, NC. .
