Barbara Hall Wood

Mrs. Barbara Jean Hall Wood, age 70, of Handy Rd., Denton died Wednesday, March 4 at Thomasville Medical Center. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, March 7 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Steve McLain officiating. Burial will follow in the Lineberry United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Wood was born March 29, 1938 in Rocky Mount, NC to Fayt and Mildred Brown Hall. She had previously lived in Virginia Beach, VA and during all of her years, Barbara was a loving and compassionate homemaker and made a house a home for all of her family. She is survived by her husband, Jack C. Wood of the home, 2 sons, Jeffery Carter Wood and wife Maureen of Northville, Michigan and Michael Edward Wood and wife Wanda of Monroe, Michigan, a daughter Carmen and husband Jeff Johnson of Chesapeake, Virginia, a brother Jerry J. Hall of Denton, two sisters, Deborah Dill of Portsmouth, Virginia and Sandra Jean Harrell of Chesapeake, Virginia, her step-father, Seaton E. Colston of Chesapeake, Virginia and four grandchildren, Jeffery C. Wood, II, Ryan M. Wood, Josh Coren and William Coren. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Saturday, prior to the service, at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on Handy Road.
