Audrey Warfford

Mrs. Audrey Jean Abernathy Warfford, age 63 of Briggs Road, Lexington, NC died Saturday, August 23 at Lexington Health Care. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Holloways Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Craig Barnhill. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery Mrs. Warfford was born October 25, 1944 in Gaston County to J. W. Abernathy and Pauline Lowery Abernathy. She was a member of Holloways Baptist Church and a past president of the Southmont Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a hairdresser and had worked at Mountain Vista Health Park as long as her health permitted. She had been active with the Boy Scouts of America. She was preceded in death by her only son, Joe Donald Warfford, Jr. on July 24, 1975. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother J. Wayne Abernathy and her sister Martha A. Byerly. She is survived by her husband Joe Donald Warfford, Sr. of the home; Adopted Family Doug and Melissa Shough, Misty Abernathy and Summer Shough all of Lexington; Sister-In-Law, Janice Smith Abernathy of Lexington. and Sisters, Linda Neal and husband Nelson of Lakeland, Fla; Sue Wilkes of Lexington The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
