Ashley Lee Garner

        Mr. Ashley Lee Garner, age 78 of George Tysinger Road, Denton, NC died Saturday, January 19 at his residence.   A celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, January 24 in the Fellowship Hall of Summerville Baptist Church with Rev. Flynn Richardson and Rev. Claudie Harrison officiating.   Mr. Garner was born November 29, 1940 in Davidson County to Joe A Garner and Rillie Hunt Garner. He had worked as an upholsterer with Erwin-Lambeth Furniture Company and Councill Craftsman Furniture Company. He had been involved with Furniture Exhibitions in Washington DC and China. He was a member of Summerville Baptist Church where he had served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and led the music for over 25 years. He had coach Little League baseball. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Claude F Garner and a sister Louise Pierce.   He is survived by his wife Jean Watkins Garner of the home, sons, Gregory Lee Garner and partner Donald Eplin of Davenport, FL and Patrick Neil Garner of Denton; brothers, Sidney Garner and wife Nancy of Denton and Barry Garner and wife Mary Ann of Lexington; sisters, JoAnn Davis, Wanda Lanning and Sue Ramsey and husband Donald all of Denton; sister-in-law, Lillian Garner of Texas.   Memorials may be made to Summerville Baptist Church, 3134 Summerville Church Road, Denton, NC 27239 or Hospice of Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292   Briggs Funeral Home is providing cremation service for the Garner family.   Online condolences may be made at www.briggsfuneralhome.com
