Asa Eugene Parsons

A. Eugene Parsons 92 died Friday Chief Parsons moved to Tarboro in 1967 to become Fire Chief of Tarboro Fire Department until he retired in 1981. Before coming to Tarboro he was a member and Chief of Candor Fire Dept., Chief of Guilford County Community Fire Dept., Chief of Guilford College Fire Department, a member and president of N. C. State Firemen’s Association, member of Lions Club and Woodmen of World. He was instrumental in starting many programs with the Tarboro Fire Department and help form volunteer fire departments at Leggett, the Lewis community and Heartsease. Funeral service will be held 11 A. M. Monday, July 27, 2009 at Carlisle Funeral Home, Tarboro with Rev. Jim Wilson. Graveside service will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Candor Town Cemetery, Candor, N. C. He is survived by his wife, Mary James Parsons Daughters, Genelle McDonald & husband, Nelson of Cameron, N. C. Phyllis Parsons Freeman, Greensboro, N. C. Step-daughter, Sylvia L. Lawson & husband, Bob, LaGrange, Kentucky Step-son, Willie Keel & wife Olivia, Garner, N. C. Sister, Bonna Mae Haywood & husband, Thomas of Norfolk, Va. 4 granddaughters 4 great granddaughters Family will receive friends at Carlisle Funeral Home, Sunday from 7-9 P. M. and other times at the home, 2405 Deanie Ave.
