Archie McCormick MT. GILEAD — Archie “Bill” McCormick, 78, of Pekin Road, Mt. Gilead, died Monday, May 29, 2006, at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Blackwood Chapel Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Gary McNeill. Place of interment will be in the church cemetery with Military honors by VFW Post 10940 of Mt. Gilead. Mr. McCormick was born July 24, 1927, in Richmond County, to Will and Laura Jane Talbert McCormick. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Blackwood Chapel Baptist Church, where he was a former Deacon. He was a retired Cutting Room Supervisor in the Textile Industry. He was preceded in death by brothers, Marion and Frank McCormick; and a sister, Lucille Faircloth. Survivors include spouse, Pauline Blake McCormick of the home; daughter, Judy McCormick Haithcock and husband, Randy, of Mt. Gilead; son, Billy McCormick and wife, Donna, of Mt. Gilead; sisters, Agnes Whittington and Louise Lucas, both of Ellerbe, and Peggy Webb of Rockingham; brothers, Joe, Jerry, Robert and Herbert McCormick, all of Ellerbe, and Max McCormick of Cheraw, S.C., and Johnny McCormick of Chesterfield, S.C.; and Doran McCormick of Wallace, SC. grandchildren, Bianca, Jared and Cheyanna. The family will see friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home in Candor, other times at the residence on Pekin Road.
