Alvin Hogan, Sr.

September 15, 1941 — May 22, 2024

Mr. Alvin Val Hogan, Sr. 82, a resident of Charles Mountain Rd., Denton, NC, known as a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, community leader, and a friend to many passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 25th at Liberty Fellowship Church with Rev. Jamie Draughn and Rev. Melvin Morton presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 24th at Briggs Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

Mr. Hogan was born September 15, 1941, in Randolph County to Val John Hogan and Louie Shaw Hogan. Alvin was a 1959 graduate of Farmer High School and was a member of Liberty Fellowship Church. Alvin spent most of his life farming and along with his wife, Nancy, they owned and operated Hogan Grocery Service for 20 years. He was a diehard fan of the Atlanta Braves and enjoyed riding his Kubota side by side.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Nancy Ball Hogan and son-in-law, Neal Kiser.

He is survived by a son, Alvin Hogan, Jr. and wife Kandy of Denton; daughters, Elaine Hogan Kiser of Denton and Marcell Hogan Lomax and husband Dale of Lexington; brother, Herman Hogan and wife Connie of Denton; 8 grandchildren, Kristen Elberson and husband Scotty, Stella Hineline and husband Chris, Dr. Hagan Kiser, Brittany Powers and husband Nathan, Jessica Hogan, Bryson Hogan, Desirae Lawson, and Carolina Boxberger; 7 great-grandchildren, Lorelei Elberson, Laken Elberson, Ryleigh Hineline, Ryder Hineline, Holland Powers, Oakleigh Powers, and Wrenlee Powers.

Memorials can be made to Hospice of Davidson County 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 and to Liberty Fellowship Church Cemetery Fund, 8165 New Hope Rd., Denton, NC 27239.
