Alva Floyd

July 7, 1918 — February 3, 2010

Alva Floyd, age 91, of Cap Ingram Rd., Lexington died Wednesday, February 3 at Randolph Hospital following several years declining health. Funeral service for Mr. Floyd will be 3:00 pm Sunday, February 7 at Floyd Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Dickens officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Floyd was born July 7, 1918 in Davidson County to Alson and Maggie Hedrick Floyd. He was valedictorian of the 1940 graduating class of Southmont School. He worked most of his life as a farmer and carpenter and was a member of Floyd Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by sisters, Dallas Floyd and Dallie Davis, brothers, Dolan Floyd and infant twin brothers and nephew John Floyd. He is survived by a sister, Margie Misenheimer of Lexington, nephews, Mike Misenheimer and Randy Davis, both of Lexington and Dr. Timothy Misenheimer of Asheboro, nieces, Judy Worley of Lexington, Janice Patella of Mocksville, Jean Bates of Greensboro and Janie Davis of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton. Memorials may be sent to Special Olympics, P. O. Box 1067, Lexington, NC 27293-1067 or to donor’s choice.
