Mrs. Alma Hulin McDowell Markham, 74, of South NC HWY 109 Denton passed away on Monday, September, 18, 2017 at Hinkle Hospice House.A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Thursday, Sept. 21 at Pleasant Union Community Church with Rev. Alvin Wooters presiding. Interment will follow in the church Cemetery. Alma was born September 26, 1942 in Randolph County to James Arthur (Jim) Hulin and Canara Garner Hulin. She was a member of Hoover’s Grove Wesleyan Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Walton Odell McDowell and a brother, Clarence Hulin. Surviving husband Lawrence Markham of the home; son, Odell McDowell and wife Angela of Trinity; step-sons; Allen Markham of Denton and Randall Markham of Lexington; step-daughters, Darlene Markham, Judy Cagle, and Leslie Ridge all of Denton; brothers, Tom, Holis, and Fred Hulin all of Denton; sisters, Bessie Parrish of Trinity, Exie Mae Hedrick, Jacqueline Sexton, and Sarah Hulin all of Denton; 5 grandchildren, Valerie, Aaron, Joshua, Kenny, and Chris. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:30 to 3:00 pm at the church prior to the service and other times at the residence.
