Allene Harralson Graves, 91, of Culver City, California passed away on December 3, 2021 at Palm Court Retirement Community. A Graveside Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Candor Cemetery. A reception following the service will be at Candor United Methodist Church. Allene was born April 29, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio to Allen Harralson and Jeanette Defenbaugh Harralson. She was a graduate of Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina where she met her husband, the late Earle Hamilton Graves, Jr. They were married in 1951 and began their teaching careers in Stanfield, NC. They moved to Candor, NC in 1953 and continued their teaching careers. Allene taught English, remedial reading and math. She enjoyed being a part of her students’ growth and preparing them for life’s adventures. Allene retired in 1990 from Candor Elementary School with 30 years of service. Allene was an active member in the Candor United Methodist Church for 46 years. She liked to do charitable work such as Meals on Wheels. She loved to travel, play golf, read, and play cards. In 2017, she moved to Los Angeles, California to be near her daughter and son-in-law. She resided at Palm Court Retirement Community where she enjoyed a very active social life. She loved to takes tours around Los Angeles, exercise classes and play bingo. She joined the Westchester United Methodist Church in 2017. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Graves Rozanski and son-in-law, Robert Rozanski of Playa del Rey, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earle Graves and her son Terry Graves.
