Agnes Byrum Cranford, a long-time resident of the New Hope area near Denton, died Friday, March 25, 2016 at the home of her sister in High Point. Graveside Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Calvary Gospel Church Cemetery. She was born December 16, 1913 in Cooleemee, North Carolina to the late Bishop Blair and Effie Jane Byrum. Agnes lived with her loving husband Laurin “Jake” Cranford on their farm in New Hope and continued living there after Jake’s passing in March of 1982. Agnes loved good food, cooking, and baking cakes. She loved her flowers, gardening, and sitting on her front porch in the afternoon shade. Most of all, she loved her church and serving others. Agnes loved God and people, and was an active member of Calvary Gospel Church until she could no longer attend. She is survived by her sister, Iris Byrum Hutchins of High Point, in whose care she passed at the age of 102. Memorial gifts may be made in loving memory of Agnes to Hospice of the Piedmont at 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262. Briggs Funeral Home in Denton has been entrusted with arrangements.
