Mrs. Colene Lanier Hardister, age 87 of Sandalwood Drive, Denton, NC died Thursday, August 24 at Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 27 at New Hope United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Bobby Lorton and Rev. J Harold Hammond. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times will be at the residence of Jason Hardister, 5998 Lanier-Hill Road, Denton. Mrs. Hardister was born July 24, 1930 in Randolph County to Roy Lanier and Lala Frye Lanier. She was a graduate of Farmer High School and a member of New Hope United Methodist Church where she had served as a Sunday School Teacher. She had worked as a seamstress in the clothing industry and served as a secretary for Hardister Logging Company. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Roy C. Lanier and George Donald Lanier and a sister Itene Pittillo. She is survived by her husband Elsie Hardister; sons, Donnie Hardister, Timothy Hardister and Danny Hardister all of Denton; sister Jearldean Harvel and husband Allen of Troy; grandchildren, Jason, Jeremiah and Trevor Hardister; great grandchildren, Ashton and Chelsie Hardister.
