Billy "Bill" Madison Lanier

Mr. Billy Madison “Bill” Lanier, age 81, of Kernersville died Monday, September 24 at High Point Regional Hospital. A graveside memorial service will be 11:00 am Thursday, September 27 at Tom’s Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Tammy Talbert officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at First United Methodist Church in Denton. Mr. Lanier was born December 15, 1930 in Davidson County to Robert Lee and Margaret Jane Coggins Lanier. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Following his military service he worked as an auto auctioneer for 53 years and in 2008 received the Lifetime Bernie Hart Memorial Auctioneer Award from the National Auto Auctioneers Association. He was a friend of Bill W. for 28 years. Mr. Lanier was preceded in death by two sons, Kevin Lanier and Dean Lanier and a brother, Don Lanier. He is survived by two sons, Doug Lanier and wife Gail and Gary Lanier and wife Bonnie, of Denton and one daughter, Teresa Stevenson and husband Rob of Denton. He is also survived by grandchildren, Kim Hutchins, Heather Lanier, Lindsey Todd, Jenna Richmond and Savannah Stevenson and great-grandchildren Hannah, Asher and Xander.
