Doris Howard Gabriel, age 81, of Thomasville, formerly of Kannapolis died Tuesday, February 12 at Piedmont Crossing.

Funeral service for Mrs. Gabriel will be 3:00 pm Friday, February 15 at Hopewell United Methodist Church in Sherrills Ford with Rev. Susan German and Rev. Kristy Burnette officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Gabriel was born July 31, 1931 in Cabarrus County, the daughter of the late Mary Honeycutt. She was a homemaker and a member of North Kannapolis United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Woman. She loved to crochet, sharing her creations with many. She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh Taylor Gabriel in 1993 and her daughter Debra Gabriel King.

Mrs. Gabriel is survived by one son, Kevin Gabriel and wife Stacy of Lexington, four grandchildren, Brad King, Traci King, Taylor Gabriel and Chloe Gabriel and one great-grandchild Kaitlin Idol.
